GT vs KKR IPL 2023: In the thirteenth match of the IPL, Kolkata Knight Rider has defeated the Kolkata Knight Riders by a margin of three wickets. Hardik Pandya, the regular skipper of GT, could not play the match due to some illness. In his absence, Rashid Khan took on the reins of Captaincy. Winning the toss, he chose to bat first and the team scored 204 runs in 20 overs, thanks to a valiant 24-ball 63* by Vijay Shankar. In response, KKR chased down the target in the last ball.

In the last five overs, 56 runs were required but Alzarri Joseph took the wicket of set batsman Venkatesh Iyer and derailed the chase. In just the next over, skipper Rashid Khan took a hattrick of wickets, completely changing the momentum to his team's side. But in the last over, when 28 runs were required, Rinku Singh smashed five sixes and took his team across the victory line.

Rinku Singh and Iyer's Stunning batting

Coming to chase, KKR did not have an ideal start losing two wickets in just 28 runs. Gurbaz scored 15 runs off 12 balls while Jagadeesan scored 6 runs off 8 balls. Skipper Nitish Rana smashed 45 runs in 29 balls. Meanwhile, Venkatesh Iyer announced his name to the global stage yet again by scoring 83 runs in just 40 balls, hitting eight boundaries and five maximums.

In the 17th over, Rashid Khan took the hattrick and dismissed Andre Russel, Sunil Narine, and Shardul Thakur in the span of three balls. Rinku Singh played a valiant cameo of 48* off 21 balls, hitting five sixes in the last over and took his team to victory. Apart from Rashid's three-wicket haul, Alzarri Joseph took a couple of wickets while Shami and Joshua Little picked a wicket each as well.

Vijay Shankar's Brutal Assault

Earlier, Rashid Khan won the toss and chose to bat first in the game. They did not have a good start in the game as opener Wriddhiman Saha was dismissed with a score of 17 runs off 17 balls while Shubman Gill scored 39 runs off 31 balls. Sai Sudharsan smashed consecutive fifty and was played a valiant knock of 53 runs in 38 balls.

However, in the end, Vijay Shankar played an aggressive knock and completely shifted the momentum. He played with a strike rate of 262.5, smashing four boundaries and five maximums, eventually scoring 63* off 24 balls. Sunil Narine took a three-wicket haul while Suyash Sharma picked a wicket as well.
