ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifiers: Leask Inning Overshadow Campher’s Century as Scotland Defeats Ireland

ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifiers: In a thrilling last-ball thriller, Scotland defeated Ireland to register their first victory in ICC Cricket World Cup qualifiers. The victory also meant that Scotland opened their qualifying journey with a win.

It is Ireland’s second loss in as many matches, and their road to the super six is very hard now as Oman, Sri Lanka, and Scotland have a 100% win record in the tournament. Ireland needs to win their remaining two matches with big margins and hope their opponents lose.

ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifiers: Campher The Hero

While batting first, Ireland was in deep trouble as they were down 5 wickets for just 70 runs. Then a brilliant partnership between Curtis Campher and George Dockrell averted the crisis. Dockrell got out in the 43rd over after scoring a valiant 69 runs.

But Campher did not stop till the end and scored a brilliant century. His 120 runs in just 108 deliveries took Ireland to a fighting total of 286/8 in 50 overs. Brandon McMullen took five wickets for Scotland and completely toppled Ireland’s top order.
