The New Zealand team decided to pay visit to the spiritual leader The Dalai Lama ahead of their World Cup clash against Australia. The team was alongside their families and took the blessings of his highness.

ICC ODI World Cup 2023: New Zealand has had a dream start to their World Cup campaign. They witnessed their first loss in the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 against India on Sunday.

Before that, they were undefeated in the first four matches of the campaign and are now sitting in the second position. The Kiwis are set to face Australia in their next match in the campaign in Dharamshala stadium.

For that, the Kiwi team went and met with the Tibetan spiritual leader Dalai Lama in McLeod Ganj on Tuesday morning. The whole team was at The Dalai Lama’s place alongside their wives and family.

The Dalai Lama Cancelled Trip

Recently, The Dalai Lama had to cancel his trip due to the ongoing flu. He was supposed to visit Sikkim and Karnataka in November-December as he had a recent bout with the flu and the doctor advised him not to make the trip.

According to doctors and advisors, the trip could have hampered his recovery and would not let him recover completely. The spiritual leader followed the advice and halted his trip and might pay the visit in later years.

ICC ODI World Cup 2023: A Successful Meeting

The Kiwi team and their families stayed at the residence of the spiritual leader for more than an hour. Both parties were involved in some animated conversations and The Dalai Lama interacted with the players willfully.

The players and their families took the blessings of his holiness and allowed them to be photographed with him. According to a functionary in the Dalai Lama, his holiness enjoyed meeting the team and giving them his blessings.

The Kiwis would like to get back to their winning ways and they will face the newly revived Australian team next.
