ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Qualifier 2024: The International Cricket Council (ICC) has unveiled the groups and fixtures for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Qualifier 2024, scheduled to take place in Abu Dhabi. This crucial tournament, running from April 25 to May 7, features 10 teams vying for two coveted spots in the main event later this year in Bangladesh.
ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Qualifier 2024, Teams, Schedule, and Venues Announced
Abu Dhabi’s Tolerance Oval and Zayed Cricket Stadium have been chosen as the venues to host all the matches. The tournament forms a pathway for teams to secure their place in the Women’s T20 World Cup, following the direct qualification of six teams based on their performance in the previous World Cup and Bangladesh hosting the event.
The ten competing teams in the Global Qualifier include Ireland, Netherlands, Scotland, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Uganda, UAE, USA, Vanuatu, and Zimbabwe. They are split into two groups of five:
- Group A consists of Sri Lanka, Thailand, Scotland, Uganda, and the USA.
- Group B comprises Ireland, Zimbabwe, Netherlands, UAE, and Vanuatu.
A total of 20 matches will make up the Group stage, leading to the semi-finals, which will determine the two teams advancing to the main tournament. The fixtures are designed to include both day and night matches, offering a dynamic cricketing spectacle over the course of five days.
The grand finale is set to take place at the Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi on May 7, where the finalists will book their spots in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in Bangladesh, joining the ranks of the world’s best teams.
