The ball that exceeded every expectation

When the Warriors’ top order started to struggle much too early, England’s Joe Denly formed an important combination with Nabi to help the team record a respectable total. However, a video from the match has now gone viral. The batsman for the Warriors was hit by a waist-high full throw outside off that was squandered. Denly pursued the ball and hit a huge six over cover after doing so.

The delivery, which had fallen out of Tymal Mills’ hands in the 14th over, was nonetheless ruled a dead ball by the on-field umpire. In the second innings, Alex Hales batted beautifully and had crucial assistance from Sam Billings, enabling their team to win the match for the second time in a row. Hales scored 83 runs off 52 deliveries, including nine boundaries and three maximums. Sam Billings scored 49 runs in 38 balls in the match. Hales was named as the player of the match.

Alex Hales said, “Once we got ourselves in, it was a nice pitch. I try my best to get my feet moving. We (on his partnership with Sam Billings) were telling each other to stay busy, play good shots and let the bowlers make mistakes. We were lucky that there was not too much scoreboard pressure.”
