David Warner, the Australia opener, has been ruled out of the remaining two Tests in the Border-Gavaskar series due to a left elbow fracture caused by a delivery from Mohammed Siraj on the opening day of the Delhi Test. Although he continued to bat and scored 15 in Australia's first innings, subsequent scans revealed a hairline fracture. Warner also suffered a mild concussion after being struck on his helmet, leading the visitors to replace him with Matt Renshaw.
David Warner likely to return for ODI series
Warner, who had scored 1, 10, and 15 in his three innings before the injury, was already having a tough time in India. His poor performance brought his average down to 21.78 from 19 Test innings. The 36-year-old is set to return to Sydney to continue his recovery but is expected to be fit before the start of the ODI series on March 17.
