IND vs BAN: After an embarrassing defeat in the ODI series against Bangladesh, team India is now gearing up for the test series. The trophy for the series was unveiled today by the skippers from both the nations i.e Shakib and KL Rahul. Regular skipper Rohit Sharma was ruled out of the first test owing to the injury he suffered in the second ODI.
Captains unveil the IND vs BAN test series trophy
The test series which begins from 14th of December will feature KL Rahul donning the gloves of captain. Today in the morning, several players of the Men in Blue side were spotted practising for the test series at Chattogram. Moreover, it is now doubtful who will open for team India in the tests. Recently, Cheteshwar Pujara was appointed as the vice-captain for the tests, which amused the fans.
The two captains grinned casually as they posed during the unveiling of the trophy. India would surely look on to win the test series to garner crucial points ahead of the World Test Championship. After their dismal performance in the ODI series, team India is expected to go beyond the line and perform. Exluding Ishan Kishan and Virat Kohli heroics from the third and final ODI, no other batter could do wonders in the series.
BCCI announces new squad for the IND vs BAN test series
For the T20 and ODI series in New Zealand last month, Rishabh Pant was appointed the vice-captain, but since he couldn’t do much with the bat, he came under the radar of questions as well. For the first test match, Abhimanyu Easwaran has been named as the replacement for Rohit Sharma. However, Shami and Jadeja’s exclusion has already been a cause of worry for the fans. What came in as a surprising move was inclusion of Jayadav Unadkat in the test squad.
KL Rahul (C), Shubman Gill, Cheteshwar Pujara (VC), Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant (WK), KS Bharat (WK), Ravichandran Ashwin, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Shardul Thakur, Mohd. Siraj, Umesh Yadav, Abhimanyu Easwaran, Navdeep Saini, Saurabh Kumar, Jaydev Unadkat
