IND vs BAN: Silent sledge? Virat aims for runout, Mushfiqur leaves complete stumps for him in an eye-contest | Watch video

IND vs BAN: India and Bangladesh faced off each other on 4th of December in a low-scoring thriller. In limited overs formats over the past several years, both teams have been involved in nail-biting last-ball finishes. The players on both teams have interacted agressively throughout the process. Virat Kohli and Mushfiqur Rahim had an interesting exchange during the first ODI in Dhaka as they both attempted to sledge each other.

Kohli and Mushfiqur’s non verbal sledge

The two sporting superstars squared off in the 29th over of Bangladesh’s innings, when the game was fairly even. But everything went according to plan and even the onlookers embraced the occasion. Rahim defended a length ball to cover off the sixth delivery of Shardul Thakur’s 29th over.

Virat Kohli was also fast to pounce on the ball, and there was no run in it. However, the former captain of India failed to get rid of the ball despite throwing it at the stumps. Rahim moved away from the stumps at the same time and encouraged Kohli to hit the target. Rahim was engaged at the time. He appeared to be giving it back to the seasoned Bangladesh player, which infuriated Kohli to no end.

Bangladesh won the match by 1 wicket

Das made a superb catch at the covers as Kohli was out to Shakib Al Hasan after only nine runs off 15 balls. Rahim finished with 18 runs off of 45 pitches in the 36th over but failed to hit a single boundary. Although Mehidy Hasan ultimately had different plans, his wicket may have appeared to have eliminated Bangladesh’s chances of winning the match. However, that did not happen as Bangladesh won the match by 1 wicket at the end.

Now, the Bangla Tigers have a lead of 1-0 in the three match ODI series. India now needs to win remaining matches to emerge victorious.
