IND VS ENG ICC ODI World Cup 2023: Finally India batted first in the tournament and it was a disappointment. England won the toss in Lucknow and asked the hosts to bat first on a difficult and slow pitch.
But the due should be given to the English bowlers as they bowled brilliantly and took advantage of the pitch. The Three Lions stopped India on an underwhelming total and now the pressure is all on the bowling unit.
Shubman Gill and Rohit Sharma started well and gave Indian fans hope for another big score. But the happiness was not long-lived as three quick wickets resulted in the ground being completely silent.
Rohit To The Rescue
After being on 26/0, India lost their 3 wickets on just 40 runs. It was a rare downfall of Indian top order Shubman Gill and Shreyas Iyer could not even touch the double figures. While Virat Kohli was out on a duck.
That is where Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul started rebuilding the innings. The Indian skipper changed his attitude and started playing steadily alongside Rahul. Rahul got out on 39 runs but saved the Indian innings from a complete downfall.
After that Surya Kumar Yadav started playing with the skipper. While Rohit missed yet another century and got out on 87, Surya missed his half-century by just 1 run as he departed on 49 in just 47 deliveries on a difficult pitch.
All Pressure On Bowlers
All the pressure of the IND VS ENG ICC ODI World Cup 2023 match is now on Indian bowlers. While the pitch is difficult, according to the experts it will become easy to bat as the time passes.
This is also the first time that India will defend a total in this World Cup campaign. So there can’t be a better test for the bowlers than this. Jasprit Bumrah will lead the line and the spinners will be put into the equation early on.
