IND vs NZ: Bracewell’s 140 not enough to shatter Gill’s 208 as India beat New Zealand by 12 runs

IND vs NZ: India defeat New Zealand by 12 runs in a nail-biting thriller during the first ODI of the three-match series on Wednesday at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. Chasing the target of 350, New Zealand batters were reduced to 131/6 before 30 overs but later Michael Bracewell and Mitchell Santner added 161 runs for the seventh wicket to get Blackcaps to reach close to the target.

Bracewell got New Zealand almost to the mark

Towards the end, Bracewell did a brilliant job by raining sixes and fours all over the park in his knock of 140. Santner also added 57 runs to his name. Even after a superb effort, Bracewell failed to get his team to the winning line in the last over the match.

Earlier, India added 349 runs on board after Shubman Gill scored a double hundred to register his name in the elusive list of batters.

Big records broken by Gill

The 23-year-old smashed 208 runs with the help of 19 fours and 8 sixes. In his special knock, he broke several records like he became just the fifth Indian to smash a double hundred, he is the youngest player to score 200.

Meanwhile, he broke Sachin Tendulkar’s big record against New Zealand in ODI cricket. Shubman surpassed Tendulkar to become he highest individual scorer against New Zealand in ODIs.
