IND vs NZ: Players engage in a ‘football’ match as the rains did not let cricket happen | Watch video

IND vs NZ: In the lead-up to the first T20I between India and New Zealand, rain was a hindrance in Wellington, but players from both the sides showed off their super-cool football and volleyball talents. For players, it was a footvolley fun session, as they continued to enjoyed their time while it rained hard in the city. Williamson is undoubtedly a top-notch cricketer, but he also demonstrated his football prowess with ease, proving that he is also a capable player.

Players engage in a ‘foot volley’ match

Though, the rain washed away the highly anticipated match but thec lip of payers playing football is quickly becoming viral amongst fans. As visible in the video, the players put chairs in between of the hall and used them as if it is net. The video was shared by the twitter handles of both the cricket boards. Ish Sodhi, Blair Tickner, and Tim Southee arrived from the New Zealand team, and Yuzvendra Chahal and Sanju Samson joined them from the Indian team.

Few fans also responded by saying that it’s good to see such a relationship between the teams. While, many emphasised on the fact that venues should be decided by seeing weather conditions in advance.

Chahal and Sodhi, two leg spinners, laughed together as the duo engaged in amusing banter. In Wellington, it has been raining nonstop, resulting in the outfield being flooded.

Young guns to take on Kiwis

India put together a young team with players like Sanju Samson, Shubman Gill, Ishan Kishan, Umran Malik, and Mohammed Siraj for the tour. The team is being led by Hardik Pandya as the BCCI starts its effort to win the T20 World Cup in 2024. The three T20Is of IND vs NZ series will also provide selectors a good indication of Pandya’s steadily rising potential as a leader.
