India overcame their bitter rivals on Saturday thanks to an outstanding all-around effort, including important wickets contributed by the bowlers and a stunning 86 from Rohit Sharma. The fielding was also excellent, with Indian fielders making sure they didn’t waste any of the opportunities that were presented to them.

In order to assist India secure their second wicket of the day, Rahul, who was solid behind the stumps, grabbed a stunning catch to dismiss Imam-ul-Haq off the bowling of Hardik Pandya. Before presenting Rahul with the prize, Dilip lauded the field bowlers’ efforts and Shreyas Iyer, much to the team’s joy. Rahul received the medal from the previous winner, Shardul Thakur.
Introducing the ‘Best Fielder’ Award in Indian Cricket
The Indian cricket team debuted a new award on October 8 during the ODI World Cup match between India and Australia: the “Best Fielder” award. T Dilip, the team’s fielding coach, introduced this award to honour outstanding fielding performances that have a big impact on the team’s performance.
Virat Kohli and Shardul Thakur’s Outstanding Fielding Performances
Virat Kohli, a former captain of India, was the first recipient of this honour. His exceptional fielding abilities versus Australia were crucial to India’s triumph. A superb grab by Kohli to eliminate Mitchell Marsh off the bowling of Jasprit Bumrah was just one of two key catches he made that proved his mettle in the field and gave India an early lead in the game. The second catch was made by Adam Zampa off of a pitch from Hardik Pandya. After the victory over Pakistan, Shardul Thakur will receive the trophy a second time for his catch of Rahmanullah Gurbaz.
