IND VS SL ICC ODI World Cup 2023: Another day, another record by Virat Kohli. He is on a roll right now in this ongoing World Cup. Not just the World Cup, but his whole 2023 has been amazing.

Despite not playing half of the matches, he has been phenomenal and has scored a plethora of runs so far. As skipper Rohit Sharma departed on just the second delivery of the match, it was on his shoulder to stabilize the innings.

Alongside Shubman Gill, he played amazingly well and made use of the chances magnificently. While doing so, he broke a sensational record set by the legend Sachin Tendulkar.

Another Record Broken

Virat Kohli became the third Indian batter to score 1000 runs in 2023. With this, he surpassed Sachin Tendulkar’s record for most calendar years with 1,000+ ODI runs. This was the 8th time he has achieved that feat.

The Master Blaster held the previous record with 7 and now Kohli has surpassed that. He has scored 1000 runs in 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2023. The ironic thing is that he has always scored 1,000+ runs in a World Cup year.

Sachin amassed 1000 runs in one calendar year seven times during 1994, 1996, 1997, 1998, 2000, 2003, and 2007.

Another Record During IND VS SL ICC ODI World Cup 2023

The former Indian skipper is settled now and is looking comfortable on the pitch. After a shaky start, Kohli and Gill have settled the innings and are now increasing the pace of the innings.

Kohli now has the chance to score his 49th century in ODI cricket and equal the long-time record of Sachin Tendulkar. If he does that, he will have the chance to score his 50th ton on his birthday against South Africa.
