Varma stepped onto the field when India found themselves in a shaky position at 28/2, having lost Ishan Kishan and Shubman Gill early during the chase of 150 runs. The 20-year-old left no room for doubt about his intentions as he struck two consecutive sixes in the first three balls he faced in international cricket.

Tilak had a memorable outing during his India debut, making a significant impact both with the bat and in the field. He showcased his exceptional fielding skills by grabbing two catches, including a stunning one to dismiss Johnson Charles. Later, when he came to bat, the young talent displayed his prowess with a quickfire knock of 39 runs off 22 balls. Unfortunately, his stay at the crease was cut short by Romario Shepherd’s dismissal. Nevertheless, Varma’s promising performance, which included two boundaries and three sixes, left fans excited and provided a glimpse of the bright future ahead.
