Ind Vs WI 2023: Just when you thought it could not get any worse for the Indian team, ICC reprimanded the Indian team with a heavy fine due to the slow over-rate during Ind Vs WI 2023 first T20 match.
Not only that, ICC imposed a fine on the Carribean side as well for this same offense. Their fine was heavier than our men in Blues, but it shows how strict ICC has become regarding its rules and regulation.
It was also evident during the match when both teams were punished for the slow over rate. During death overs, India and West Indies had to call one extra player inside the circle because of the punishment.
Huge Fine Imposed
Richie Richardson of the Emirates ICC Elite Panel of Match Referees imposed the fine on both teams. India faced a five percent of their match fee, falling one over short. Whereas West Indies faced a 10 percent fine, falling two over short.
The fine was imposed in accordance with Article 2.22 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel. The team is fined 5 percent of their match fees for every over they fail to bowl in the allotted time.
Hardik Pandya and Rovman Powell have pleaded guilty and accepted the charges. So, no formal hearing will take place against these two. Gregory Brathwaite, Patrick Gustard, Nigel Duguid, and Leslie Reife leveled the charges.
Ind Vs WI 2023: A Thrilling Series Ahead
West Indies defeated India in the first T20, and now the series has entered thrilling mode. If the Carribeans win the next match, they will win the series. But India will look to exact revenge and would like to go out with all three series.
