Ind Vs WI 2023: During the first day of the second test match against West Indies, Indian skipper Rohit Sharma reached a new level of greatness. He left former Indian captain MS Dhoni behind to reach a new milestone.

In the second match, Rohit kept his amazing form intact and scored 80 runs in just 143 deliveries. He was scoring runs in every part of the ground. There were many glimpses where we saw him at his absolute best.

During the inning, The Indian skipper entered into the list of the top 5 most run scorers for India leaving MS Dhoni behind. A feat that will be really hard to break for anyone. The right-handed batsman has joined the elites and might even claim even higher.

An Illustrious Career

Rohit Sharma has appeared in 443 matches for India and has scored 17,298 runs so far with an average of 42.92. No matter what you think, that is an impressive record. The Hitman has played 52 test matches, 243 ODIs, and 148 T20s for Indian cricket team.

There is a reason why the Indian skipper is nicknamed The Hitman as he has scored 44 centuries and 92 half-centuries with 264 being his highest score. It is also the highest score in ODIs by any batsman.

Rohit has now scored 17,298 runs and surpassed Dhoni who has scored 17,266 runs in 535 matches with an average of 44.74. Rohit is now behind Sourav Ganguly(18,433 runs), Rahul Dravid(24,064 runs), Virat Kohli(25,484 runs), and Sachin Tendulkar(34,357 runs).

In the second test, the Indian team got a dream start as both Yashaswi Jaiswal and Rohit Sharma scored half-centuries. Shubman Gill and Ajinkya Rahane failed to make an impact but Virat Kohli and Jadeja saved the innings. By the end of the first day, India was comfortable with 280/4 on the scoreboard.
