Ind W Vs Ban W: Indian Women’s team defeated the Bangladesh Women’s team in the first T20 match of the three-match series. Harmanpreet Kaur decided to take bowling after winning the toss.

The bowlers proved her decision right and stopped Bangladesh on just 114 runs in 20 overs. After some early scares, India came back and comfortably chased down the target set by Bangladesh.

India is now leading the three-match Ind W Vs Ban W series. The next two matches will be played on July 11 and July 13. India would like to clinch the series dominantly and this is a step in the right direction.

Disciplined Bowling

Indian team constantly bowled on a strict and disciplined line to sustain Bangladesh Women on a small score. While none of the bowlers were able to take multiple wickets, everyone was really conservative and stooped the flow of the runs.

Pooha Vastrakar, Minnu Mani, and Shafali Verma took one wicket each while two batswomen were run out. Pooja Vastrakar and Deepti Sharma completely choke down Bangladesh’s batting lineup and gave runs at an economy rate of just 4.00.

Shathi Rani Bormon(22), Sobhana Mostary(23), and Shorna Akter(28) were the highest contributor to the Bangladesh team. India bowled so well that only Shamima Sultana was able to score runs with a 100+ strike rate.

Sensational Smriti

After the early wicket of Shafali Verma on 0 and Jemimah Rodrigues(11), Smriti and Harmanpreet Kaur stabilized the inning. Smriti Mandhana especially took charge and scored runs at a good pace to keep India in the contest.

After that Harmanpreet Kaur took the baton from her and started attacking. Even when the wickets were falling down she took the attack to the Bangladesh team. She constantly attacked the bowlers and never let the strike rate go down even if the wickets were falling.

Harmanpreet scored a brilliant 50 that allowed India to chase down the target in just 16 overs. Smriti Mandhana also made valuable 38 runs off 34 deliveries.
