India vs Netherlands, T20 World Cup: Kohli, Suryakumar, Rohit guide India to set 180-run target

After opting to bat first vs Netherlands, India have posted a good total of 179 runs in their second match of the ongoing T20 World Cup at the Sydney Cricket Ground. Virat Kohli was yet again the top scorer with his 62-run knock. While Suryakumar Yadav (53) and Rohit Sharma (51) too scored half centuries.

It was yet again a poor day on field for vice-captain KL Rahul who departed after scoring a lazy 9 runs in 12 balls.

For Netherlands, Fred Klassen and Paul van Meekeren picked two wickets apiece. While it was a poor day for all the other bowlers.

Earlier, Rohit Sharma asked Netherlands to field first and made no changes to the Indian lineup.

“We are going to bat first. Yeah, morale is really high. Winning a game like that takes your confidence to the next level but at the same time we understand we need to stay calm, just the first game of the tournament and plenty of things to happen. We have to calm ourselves and look forward to this game. We want to keep improving no matter what the results are, it always keeps you in good stead when you are thinking like that. It is important for us to keep ticking those boxes. Touch slower I guess from what we played in Melbourne. The pitch has been used for 40 overs so I expect it is going to be slightly slower. We are used to playing on such tracks. We are playing the same team,” said India skipper Rohit Sharma at toss.
