1000 games in IPL
Fifteen years ago, the cash-rich T20 league, which revolutionized T20 cricket and had a significant impact on the sporting landscape in India, began with a highly anticipated inaugural match between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Kolkata Knight Riders. The Indian Premier League (IPL) commenced in 2008, and after 15 years of thrilling cricket action, it has now achieved the remarkable feat of reaching the 1000-game milestone.
In honour of the momentous 1000th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL), the Wankhede Stadium was adorned with festive decorations as the Mumbai Indians clashed with the Rajasthan Royals. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) orchestrated a grand celebration to mark this historic event. Volunteers brandished special flags, while video clips from past editions of the league were showcased, creating an atmosphere of nostalgia. Additionally, the Indian board bestowed special mementoes upon the captains, Rohit Sharma and Sanju Samson, as a token of appreciation for their participation in this significant milestone.
