IPL 2023: From Pollard to Aaron Finch – Biggest releases from teams so far before the auction

IPL 2023: There are only two days left before the final submission of the IPL player retention and trade windows, so let’s look at the most recent team news, trading updates, and list of retained players from the IPL.

Royal Challengers Bangalore

Ahead of the 2023 season of the Indian Premier League (IPL), the Australian player Jason Behrendorff will join the five-time league champion Mumbai Indians. Behrendorff played for Royal Challengers Bangalore in the 2022 campaign; RCB acquired him for INR 75 lakh in the auction held before the season for that team. Behrendorff, incidentally, participated in the 2018 season for the Mumbai Indians.

Mumbai Indians

Kieron Pollard, a prominent all-rounder and former captain, along with fellow all-rounders Fabian Allen and Tymal Mills of England, have reportedly been released by Rohit Sharma’s MI.

Mumbai has released five players and kept a total of 10. They are Tilak Verma, Jofra Archer, Dewald Brewis, Ishan Kishan, Suryakumar Yadav, Daniel Sams, Tim David, Jasprit Bumrah, and Dewald Brewis.

Chennai Super Kings

CSK released foreign players including Chris Jordan and the New Zealand combo of Adam Milne and Mitchell Santner but kept former captain Ravindra Jadeja despite failing to make the IPL 2022 Playoffs. As per reports, Ambati Rayudu and Dwayne Bravo could be released as well.

Kolkata Knight Riders

In order to fill Alex Hales’ spot, the KKR signed Aaron Finch. To make the most of the field restrictions, the right-handed batter was awarded the opening spot. Finch did not, however, utilised his chances. Finch scored just 86, averaging 17.20 runs over his last five games.

Alex Hales will be taken into consideration as KKR searches for an aggressive foreign opener. The England opener withdrew owing to bubble fatigue after being signed by Kolkata at the last auction. Even though Aaron Finch did not have a good season with the Knight Riders, the team was able to contract him.

Gujarat Titans

The winning team of IPL 2022, Gujarat titans have made signficant changes as well. Lockie Ferguson and Gurbaz were traded by Hardik Pandya led team to MI. The team is also eyeing for many big players for the upcoming season. Matthew Wade too have been released by the defending champions.
