IPL 2023: LSG’s 16 Crore player goes berserk ! Slams 41 runs in just 19 balls during SA vs WI | Watch Video

IPL 2023

IPL 2023: Just like the rest of the series, the third and final T20 match played between South Africa and West Indies also saw some big hits. West Indies batted first and put up a huge score of 220 runs on the board, thanks in part to explosive innings from middle-order batsman Nicholas Pooran. Pooran smashed 41 runs in just 19 balls, including two fours and four sixes. He was on his way to a half-century when he was caught behind the wicket by Quinton Dickock off the bowling of Lungi Ngidi.

Nicholas Pooran’s spectacular innings

Nicholas Pooran played a spectacular inning during a match with a strike rate of 215.78. He went into full carnage during the seventh over, when he hit three sixes in just an over. During the second ball of the over, he hit a six followed by another six on the next ball on the third ball. He waited in the crease for a short ball, hit it from the leg stump, and sent it for a long six over a deep square leg. After narrowly escaping the next ball, Fortuin delivered the fifth ball straight, which Pooran sent over deep square leg for another six. His knock included two boundaries and four sixes.

Nicholas Pooran was bought by Lucknow Super Giants in the auction that took place in December last year for INR 16 crores. His blistering performance just before the start of IPL 2023 will work as a morale booster for the rest of the team. He is also one of the most expensive players in the history of IPL.

Despite Pooran’s wicket, Romario Shepherd’s unbeaten 44 helped West Indies to score 220 runs in 20 overs losing eight wickets. South Africa made a valiant effort to chase down the target but could only manage 213 runs, losing the match and the series by 2-1.
