IPL 2024: Finally, we have got the auction dates for one of the most awaited seasons of IPL. IPL 2024 will be iconic for more than one reason and the fans are excited for the blockbuster festival of cricket.
On one hand, it will surely be MS Dhoni last hurrah of cricket as he has announced it himself. On the other hand, this IPL will be played amidst the elections. So, we all know how messy it is going to be.
Another iconic and different thing about this IPL is that it is the first time that the auctions will take place overseas. ESPNCricinfo has stated that the auction for IPL this time will take place in Dubai rather than India.
IPL 2024 Auction Date
The auction date is set to be December 19, 2023. We would be well over the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 fever and the Indian team will be on the South Africa tour. In fact, the auction will be on the same date as India’s second ODI against the Proteas.
The IPL clubs have till November 15 to submit the list of retained and released players. So that the auction pool can be finalized well before December and the auction will go smoothly.
Every club will also receive an increase in their overall purse as compared to last year. The clubs are set to receive 100 crore INR to make their team, whereas last year their purse was 95 crores. So, we might see even more crazy signings in this season.
Biggest Purse
As of now, Punjab Kings have the greatest purse of 12.20 crores INR. Hyderabad also boasts an impressive purse of INR 6.55 crores. Gujarat and Delhi have INR 4.45 crores while Lucknow has 3.55 crores with them.
Rajasthan is not far behind Lucknow and has 3.35 crores in its purse. Kolkata has to make some smart dealings as their purse only has 1.65 crores. While the two most successful teams of IPL have the lowest purse so far. Mumbai comes at last with only 0.05 crores while defending champion Chennai has 1.5 Crores in their purse.
