IPL Viral Video: Tushar Deshpande, the 27-year-old pacer from Chennai Super Kings (CSK), showcased his fielding skills with a remarkable running catch to dismiss Kolkata Knight Riders’ (KKR) young wicketkeeper-batter Rahmanullah Gurbaz in the 61st match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chepauk, Chennai on Sunday, May 14. Deshpande, who has been a standout performer for CSK in the IPL 2023, has already claimed 19 wickets, making him a valuable asset for the team.

Choosing to bat first, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) managed to set a respectable total of 144-6 against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). CSK’s batsmen had an inconsistent performance against the bowling attack of KKR. Notably, the astute off-spinner Sunil Narine emerged as the standout performer among the spinners, claiming 2 wickets while conceding just 15 runs in his 4-over spell.
In response, KKR began their innings on a below-par note. In the opening over, bowled by Deepak Chahar, Rahmanullah Gurbaz attempted a square drive on the last delivery but failed to connect cleanly with the wide off-stump ball. Tushar Deshpande, positioned at deep point, showcased his agility by taking a running catch near the boundary line without letting the ball touch the rope. It was a well-executed plan by CSK captain MS Dhoni, who had moved up to the stumps for the final three deliveries, putting additional pressure on the batsmen. With just one run to his name from four deliveries, Rahmanullah Gurbaz fell victim to the opposition’s bowling, leaving Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) with a score of 4-1.

Kolkata Knight Riders pulled off a 6 wicket victory in the match. Within the powerplay, they had lost three wickets for a score of 33 runs. However, skipper Nitish Rana and Rinku Singh led the charge and slammed valiant fifties, and took the team towards the winning total. Rinku was dismissed a bit before the victory but the damage had been done by then and Nitish Rana scored the winning runs eventually with 9 balls to spare.
