Japan fulfilled the responsibility of Olympics hosts: Japan PM

The most challenging Tokyo Olympics concluded on Sunday. Japan Prime Yoshihide Suga said on Monday that Japan has fulfilled their responsibility as Olympics hosts and he also thanked people for their cooperation.

“Although the Olympics were postponed for a year and held under various restrictions, I believe we were able to fulfill our responsibility as host country,” Suga said a day after the closing of the Summer Games.

I would like to express my sincere appreciation to the Japanese people for their understanding and cooperation,” he added.

This was the first time that Olympics was held mostly without spectators due to COVID pandemic. The event ended as Japan was suffering from an explosive spread of COVID-19.
