Kohli, Pujara slipped in the Test Rankings

Indian captain Virat Kohli and batsman Cheteshwar Pujara have slipped one place each in the list of batsmen in the latest ICC World Rankings. Jasprit Bumrah and Ravichandran Ashwin have benefited in the list of bowlers.

India lost the first Test match against England by 227 runs on Tuesday. In this match, Kohli scored 11 runs in the first innings and 72 runs in the second innings.

Kohli has now slipped to number five with 852 points, while Pujara, who scored 88 runs in both innings, has slipped to number seven. In the bowlers’ rankings, Ashwin is at the seventh position while Bumrah is at number eight.

England captain Joe Root who scored 218 runs in the first innings of the first Test match has risen two places in the list of batsmen and he is now at number three.

Root is now 36 points behind New Zealand captain Kane Williamson. Australian batsman Steve Smith is second, his teammate Marnus Labuschahgne fourth, and Pakistan’s Babar Azam at number six. Indian wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant, who scored 91 runs in the first innings of the first Test, remains at number 13 with 700 rating points.
