A Unique Double for an Indian Cricketer
With his recent effort, Manav Suthar has entered a unique record of Indian cricket. He has now achieved the feat of taking a five-wicket haul in both his first home and first away Tests. Suthar becomes only the second Indian cricketer to do so after Mohammad Nisar, while being the first Indian spinner to register a unique double.
Great Bowling Effort Against Sri Lanka
In his home Test match at Galle, Suthar displayed great control and consistency in his efforts. After taking four wickets in Sri Lanka’s first innings, he then went on to produce a more successful spell in the second innings of the match. He took six wickets to help India dismiss Sri Lanka for 206. His overall figures for the match were 10 wickets for 131runs
From Debut in Test Cricket to Making History
Suthar had already made a name for himself on his Test debut for India against Afghanistan in June, when he took six for 33, becoming only the fifth Indian bowler to record a five-wicket haul on Test debut. What Suthar has done in Sri Lanka is proof that his debut in Test cricket was no fluke, and the 24-year-old bowler has already proved his worth as a dangerous prospect for India’s Test team.
