Maha Kumbh 2025: Olympic medalist and renowned boxer Mary Kom visited the ongoing Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj on Sunday. This was her first time attending the massive religious gathering, and she shared her thoughts on the experience and the impressive arrangements in place.

Mary Kom’s First Maha Kumbh Experience

Mary Kom, who visited the sacred Triveni Sangam, the confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and Saraswati rivers, expressed her satisfaction with the event's organisation.

She praised the efforts of both the state and central governments in ensuring smooth management, excellent sanitation, and comfortable arrangements for pilgrims. “It was a nice experience. The arrangements are very good,” she said. She also thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for making the event a world-class pilgrimage.

Sanatan-Christian Unity at Maha Kumbh

Even though Mary Kom is a Christian, she emphasised the unity between Sanatan Dharma and Christianity during her visit. “This is my first experience. Even though I am a Christian, I came here and supported the Maha Kumbh,” she said, highlighting the importance of harmony. Mary Kom expressed her happiness to witness people from around the world, including Russia and the United States, visiting the Maha Kumbh. “People from foreign countries are coming to experience the Maha Kumbh. This is a great initiative,” she added.

Key Dates of Maha Kumbh 2025

The Maha Kumbh Mela, which began on January 13 with the 'Pavitra Snan' (Holy Bath), is one of the most significant Hindu festivals. It observed its second day on Makar Sankranti, with the 'Amrit Snan.' The festival will continue until February 26, with key bathing dates such as January 29 (Mauni Amavasya), February 3 (Basant Panchami), February 12 (Magh Purnima), and February 26 (Maha Shivratri).

A Record-Breaking Turnout

Despite the cold weather, thousands of devotees have already gathered at the Triveni Sangam for their holy dip. Over 10 crore devotees have participated so far, marking a record turnout. The administration has planned the event meticulously, ensuring that the traditions of the Kumbh are maintained while keeping everything disciplined and timely.

Mary Kom’s visit to the Maha Kumbh 2025 adds to the significance of this spiritual gathering, highlighting unity and the global appeal of the sacred event.
