The fifth match of the tournament took place between Washington Freedom and Texas Super Kings. And in a twist of fate and an upset, Super Kings faced their first defeat of the tournament.

On the other hand. MI New York jumped back from the defeat in their first match in style. They annihilated the LA Knight Riders’ batting order and were unstoppable in their pursuit of their first win.

MLC 2023: Dwayne Bravo Heroics In Vain

While batting first, Washington Freedom was able to make 163/5 in 20 overs. Matt Short was the best batsman as he scored 80 runs in just 50 deliveries. No other batsman was able to touch 30 run mark other than him.

But Texas Super Kings, who possess one of the best batting lineups in the tournament collapsed completely. It was Dwayne Bravo’s heroics of 76 runs in just 39 deliveries that took the match this close. But in the end, even that was not enough. TSK lost the match by 6 runs in the end.

MI Run Mayhem

The Mumbai Indians franchise team in New York made a solid comeback after a close loss in the first match. After only being able to make 155 runs in the first inning on the back of another solid inning by Tim David of 48 runs in 21 deliveries. MI stopped Knight Riders on just 50 runs.

Knight Riders’ batting was completely bowled out in 13.5 overs with just 50 runs on the board. It was a disaster. This is the second-lowest score by a Knight Riders franchise team. The lowest score was made by Kolkata of just 49 runs.
