Mohammed Azharuddin says Rishabh Pant is India’s future captain

Former Indian captain Mohammed Azharuddin has said that in coming years, Rishabh Pant could be the captain of the Indian cricket team in the coming years.

The hughly-reated Pant is all set to lead IPL franchise Delhi Capitals in the Indian Premier League in the absence of the regular skipper Shreyas Iyer who is out of the team with injury.

“Rishabh Pant has had such a fabulous few months, establishing himself in all formats. It won’t come as a surprise if the selectors see him as a front-runner fr Indian captaincy in near future. His attacking cricket will stand India in good stead in times to come. @RishabhPant17 @BCCI,” Azharuddin tweeted.

The 22-years-old has been the centre of attraction in the recent times when India won the series down under and the home series against England as well.

He scored 97 runs and a not-out 89 runs in the third and fourth Test match which later turned as the match-defining innings by the Indian wicketkeeper.
