However, Star Sports, the official broadcaster of the IPL, created a buzz with its advertising campaign, featuring a mysterious and intriguing photo of former Indian cricket captain MS Dhoni in a monk-like avatar in the year 2021.

The photo was unveiled as part of a series of advertisements called “India Ka Apna Mantra” and sparked a lot of discussion and interest from fans and followers alike. The series was later revealed to be in reference to a new Star Sports series about the IPL.
The photo of Dhoni’s new avatar was shared on the official Twitter handle of Wisden India, with the caption “Caption this.” Former Indian opener Wasim Jaffer, who is known for his witty and humorous comments on social media, was quick to respond with a hilarious caption of his own. He wrote, “Thalai Lama!” as a reference to the monk avatar and to Dhoni’s nickname in Tamil Nadu (Thala, meaning head).
