English skipper Joe Root stated that his best is yet to come with the bat and he wants the next phase of his career on the peak.

"I certainly feel the best is still to come," Root told the Daily Mail. "I want to have more series like the start of this winter, and produce those big hundreds which help you win the series. I am hungry to make the next phase of my career the peak."

England is set to play two Test matches against New Zealand from June 2, and five Test matches after that against India in August-September, later an equal number of Tests against Australia in the Ashes that starts on December 8 down under.

Root scored 228, 186, and 218 against Sri Lanka and India successively before spin-friendly surfaces in the last three matches against India where he struggled.

The English captain bats at No. 4 for the English team, and he is captaining the English Test team since the exit of Alaistair Cook.
