Naseem Shah: Former Pakistan batsman Basit Ali has remarked that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) wanted to ban speedster Naseem Shah for 2 years but PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi intervened. It was announced by the PCB that Naseem was found guilty by the disciplinary committee of violating social media guidelines and breaching clauses of his central contract.
Maryam was invited by the PCB as the Chief Guest. She was introduced to officials of the 8 PCB franchises before the first match between Hyderabad Kingsmen and Lahore Qalandars.

Naseem Shah had made a post on X asking why is Maryam Nawaz is treated like a queen at Lords. However, he deleted the post immediately after but not before he was bashed on social media platforms. Naseem claimed that his account was hacked.
Shah made the comment after fans were banned from stadiums in Pakistan to conserve fuel. The Pakistani government had asked the PCB management to adhere to austerity measures recommended by the government in view of the ongoing Middle East crisis.

Biggest Ever Fine in Pakistan Cricket History
PCB imposed a fine of PKR 20 million (USD 72,000) on the bowler for the controversial X post that criticized the presence of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz at the opening game of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2026. The fine on Shah is the biggest financial penalty in the history of Pakistan Cricket. It is equivalent to eight months of Naseem’s central contract salary.
It was remarked by PCB that the bowler had issued an unconditional apology for his reckless behaviour. The social media advisor of Naseem Shah has already been blacklisted and terminated by the Pakistan Cricket Board. Many in Pakistan’s cricket circles that Mohsin Naqvi intervened to prevent a ban on Naseem Shah.
