Nasser Hussain: England and their Bazball strategy has taken over the world. Their win against Pakistan and New Zealand and heroic comeback against Australia in Ashes 2023 have shown everyone how effective this strategy is.
Bazball has been proven overseas as well as in Subcontinent countries. But according to former England captain Nasser Hussain, the real challenge for Ben Stokes and Brendon McCullum lies right ahead of them after World Cup 2023.
England will tour India from January 2024 to March 2024 with everything online. And to make matters worse, they will be without Stuart Broad and Moeen Ali. Both of them just announced retirement from test cricket.
The Real Test
The former English captain stated that England has enough bowling depth that Stuart Broad's and Moeen Ali's absence can be taken care of. He was hopeful for Jack Leach's return and also mentioned Rehan Ahmed.
But the former captain also stated that England will miss the raw pae of Jofra Archer. As well as, Olly Stone will be missed. He stated that Josh Tongue and Ollie Robinson could compensate for that and suggested Gus Atkinson just for his raw pace.
But according to him, the real battle will be between the spin department. India possesses a scary lineup of spinners, and it can be proven difficult for England to tackle that.
Fascinating Battle
Hussain stated that Bazball has evolved and adapted its strategies according to its opponents. They must adapt massively and quickly against the spin tri of Ravindra Jadeja, Ravichandran Ashwin, and Axar Patel.
"England have options. It’s the next Test for Bazball. They said Bazball would work against one side; then they moved on to the next side. The next challenge is India, and everyone knows India in India is one of the sternest challenges in Test match cricket." He ended his statement by stating that this battle would be fascinating.
