Neeraj Chopra: After winning the historic gold medal for India in the World Championships 2023, the star javelin thrower has set his sights on his next feat. World Championships was the only medal that was missing from Neeraj's cabinet.
Now that the cabinet is full, he can set his sights on breaking records. Especially the record of touching 90 meters and Diamond League Zurich, which is starting on Thursday is the perfect platform for that.
At the Olympics and World Championships, every athlete's focus is on winning the medal rather than chasing the distance. The event is set to kick off at 8:30 PM local time and the weather will be suitable for a long event.
The Competition Was Tough
The World Champion has been struggling with fitness but is excited about the competition. He stated that he was not able to compete much in 2023 due to injury and was only throwing 5-6 sessions before Budapest.
World Championships was also tough and it was hard to get into correct mental space. Neeraj Chopra further stated that he is glad he was able to remain mentally strong. He also stated that he made some technical changes to his right leg.
As the World Championships was the only medal missing from his cabinet, Neeraj was glad he was able to win it. He is also looking forward to the Diamond League as he won it last year in Lausanne.
Neeraj Chopra To Touch 90 Meter
“With the Worlds gold, I have won everything. Now, only the 90m throw is left. Hopefully, I will achieve it soon.” Neeraj Chopra was hopeful and determined before the tournament started.
As of now, Neeraj himself holds the Indian Javelin record with 89.94 meters he achieved at the 2022 Stockholm Diamond League in Sweden. Hopefully, he will break the 90-meter barrier in the Zurich Diamond League.
