Bails failure during the match

Karunaratne was the standout performer for Sri Lanka in their match against New Zealand, as he took four wickets for 43 runs in nine overs, helping to restrict the Kiwis to a score of 274. However, when it came time for him to bat, things didn’t go quite as well. Sri Lanka’s batting lineup had a huge collapse, and in the 18th over, while facing Blair Tickner, Karunaratne tried to take a quick single but was unable to make it back to his crease in time, resulting in his dismissal.

After Karunaratne was dismissed in the match against New Zealand, the decision was reviewed by the officials using video technology. Everyone was surprised when it was determined that he was not out. Although the bails were knocked off the stumps in time, the electronic zing bails did not light up because of a battery failure. Karunaratne was lucky that the technology malfunctioned and his dismissal was overturned.
