PBKS vs IPL 2023: After sitting out due to injury for the previous three games, Punjab Kings captain Shikhar Dhawan finally returned to the team. Unfortunately, his comeback turned out to be a disappointment as he failed to leave a mark in the match against the Lucknow Super Giants. Dhawan’s innings was short-lived, getting dismissed after scoring only 1 run off 2 balls. This early departure added significant pressure on the team as they embarked on their chase of a challenging target of 258 runs.
Shikhar Dhawan’s dismal comeback
Amidst the tall chase, Marcus Stoinis was given the bowl to deliver the first over. Just on the fifth ball, Shikhar Dhawan, the left-handed opener, faced a short and wide delivery from Marcus Stoinis and aimed to drive it towards the off-side boundary. However, his luck was not on his side as he found the sole fielder stationed on the boundary, Krunal Pandya, who made an easy catch. Dhawan returned to the pavilion with a wry smile, aware that his dismissal had disappointed his team at a crucial juncture of the match. Marcus Stoinis also smacked 72 runs in 40 balls today.
The responsibility now falls on the shoulders of the relatively inexperienced batsmen, Prabhsimran and Atharva, to rise to the occasion and lead the team’s innings. In the meantime, Liam Livingstone and Sam Curran are eagerly waiting for their turn to make a significant impact and contribute to the team’s chase. Punjab Kings must come together as a collective unit and deliver their absolute best if they wish to conquer this formidable challenge ahead of them.
