PV Sindhu makes history by winning bronze medal in olympics

Proud moment for India as India’s PV Sindhu has defeated He Bing Jiao of China in badminton women’s single by 21-13, 21-15 in 53 minutes in Tokyo Olympic and clinched the bronze medal for India. It’s her second consecutive Olympic medal adding to her historic silver at 2016 Rio Games.

Moreover, with this win Sindhu becomes the fourth player to win women’s singles medal in consecutive games.

Wrestler Sushil Kumar is the first and only other Indian to win two Olympic medals, following up his bronze at 2008 Beijing with a silver at the London edition.

Sindhu was clinical throughout the contest and didn’t give her opponent any chance in the match. Sindhu had suffered a heart-breaking loss to world no.1 Tai Tzu Ying in the semi-final on Saturday. Sindhu lost the semi-final 18-21, 12-21.

Now, India’s medal tally at Tokyo Olympics is 2. One silver, won by Mirabai Chanu and second one Bronze- Won by PV Sindhu.

Meanwhile, the Indian men’s hockey team are facing off against Great Britain in the quarterfinals in one of the biggest games in Indian hockey history.
