In Bengaluru on June 4, 2025, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) won the famous IPL. But their planned victory parade was marred by a terrible accident. More than 25 people were hurt, and eight people died.

Celebration Turns into Chaos as Crowd Surges

A lot of excited fans gathered around the Chinnaswamy Stadium and the Cubbon Park to see RCB celebrate their first IPL win. But an uncontrolled crowd and a lack of proper security steps led to a deadly surge. The crowd pushed through hurdles to get a better look at the players, which caused chaos and a crush of people.

Overcrowding stopped the ambulance's path, which delayed medical help for the hurt. A woman and a young child were among the victims. Many were rushed to Vydehi and Bowring Hospitals, where it was established that several people had died.

Government Faces Backlash Over Poor Planning

Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar admitted that the police were not able to manage the huge crowd. At first, the open-bus parade was scaled back because of safety worries, but the new plans didn't have enough management either. Rahul Gandhi said that the crowd at the RCB victory parade was "a result of unforgivable negligence".

Chief of the BJP in Karnataka, B.Y. Vijayendra, spoke out against the government's choice to hold the gathering without making the necessary plans. He wanted a court to look into the rush and asked why city officials weren't working together better.

What was supposed to be a celebration of sports success across the whole city has turned into a sad lesson of what can happen when you don't plan an event well. The IPL 2025 win by RCB, led by captain Rajat Patidar, will now be recognised along with the sad death of a person.
