RCB vs MI IPL 2023: In the first match of the tournament, Royal Challengers Bangalore have defeated Mumbai Indians by 8 wickets and 22 balls to spare. RCB won the toss and opted to field first in the game. With Tilak Verma's starry knock of 46-ball-84*, Mumbai Indians managed to post 171/7 in 20 overs. In response, RCB chased down the target within 16.2 overs while losing just two wickets. This is also Mumbai India's straight 11 defeat in the opening matches of IPL, which they have been continuing from 2013.

Virat and Faf's record-breaking partnership
Coming to chase a decent total of 172 runs, RCB had a great start in the match. Opener Virat Kohli smashed 82* from 49 balls, hitting six boundaries and five sixes. Meanwhile, skipper and opener Faf Du Plessis scored 73 off 43 balls, hitting five boundaries and six maximums. The first wicket partnership for RCB was of 148 runs, with Du Plessis getting out on 14.5 overs.
Dinesh Karthik was dismissed on zero off 3 balls, while Maxwell scored 12 runs off 3 balls, hitting two maximums. Only Arshad Khan and Cameron Green picked a wicket in the innings while even big names such as Jofra Archer failed to do so. Kohli finished the match with six.
Earlier, Faf Du Plessis opted to field first after winning the toss in the opening clash of the team. Riding on the knock of Tilak Verma's 46-ball-84*, Mumbai Indians managed to post 171/7 in 20 overs. They did not have a good start as they lost three wickets at 20 runs in just 5.2 overs. Rohit Sharma scored 1 run off 10 balls, Ishan Kishan scored 10 off 13, Green scored 5 off 4 balls, while Suryakumar Yadav scored 15 off 16 balls.

Tilak Verma's fighting knock
Tilak Verma slammed nine boundaries and four maximums in his 84* run knock. Nehal Wadhera also scored 21 off 13 balls, hitting a massive 101m six in his brief knock. Siraj, Topley, Akash Deep, Harshal Patel, Bracewell picked up a wicket each. Meanwhile Karn Sharma grabbed a couple of wickets. During the inning, Siraj bowled five wides in his penultimate over, shelling away 11 balls.
