RCB vs RR IPL 2023: Royal Challengers Bangalore rakes in NERVY Win, Beat Rajasthan by 7 Runs in Nail-Biting finish

RCB vs RR IPL 2023: In the 32nd match for IPL 2023, Royal Challengers Bangalore has defeated Rajasthan Royals by a margin of 7 runs. The match took place at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru. Sanju Samson invited RCB to bat first after winning the toss. With valiant fifties from Maxwell and Faf Du Plessis, they managed to score 189/9 in 20 overs before a batting collapse. In response, RR could score 182/6 in 20 overs, losing the match by 7 runs.

Virat Kohli is currently the captain of RCB since Faf is battling a rib injury and comes just for batting as an impact player. He is also the only player in the tournament so far to score 400+ runs this year while no other batter has even reached the 300-run mark, thus, his batting is very crucial for the team. This is the second consecutive victory for RCB and the fourth of the season.

RR batters fall flat

Coming to chase a total of 190, Rajasthan Royals didn't have an ideal start as Jos Buttler was dismissed for a duck by Siraj on the fourth ball itself. Opener Yashasvi Jaiswal scored 47 off 37 balls and stabilised the innings from start. Devdutt Padikkal scored 52 off 34 balls, hitting 7 boundaries and a solitary maximum. Skipper Sanju Samson scored 22 runs in 15 balls, hitting 2 boundaries and a maximum.

Dhruv Jurel played a crucial knock of 34* off 16 but failed to team his across the batting line. Ashwin also played a crucial knock of 12 runs in 6 balls in the end. Harshal Patel picked a three-wicket haul while Siraj and David Willey picked a wicket each as well.

Faf and Maxwell show at Chinnaswamy

Earlier, Sanju Samson won the toss and chose to field first in the match. Rajasthan Royals had a great start in the match as they dismissed Virat Kohli for a golden duck on the first ball of the match. Shahbaz Ahmed (2 off 4) was dismissed cheaply as well. However, Faf Du Plessis and Glenn Maxwell took on the charge and formed a 127-run partnership.

Plessis scored 62 off 39 balls, hitting 8 boundaries and 2 maximums while Maxwell scored 77 off 44 balls, hitting six boundaries and four maximums. However, after Maxwell's dismissal on the last ball of the 15th over, RCB faced yet another batting collapse and lost 5 wickets while scoring 34 runs in the next 5 overs. Ultimately, they scored 189/9 in 20 overs while they had crossed 139 at just 13 overs and had set batters on the crease. Middle and lower-order couldn't do anything significant as all relied once again on the top three batters. Boult and Sandeep Sharma grabbed a couple of wickets while Ashwin & Chahal grabbed a wicket each.
