SA20 2023: Sunrisers Eastern Cape has stormed into the record books by clinching the SA20 2023 trophy. SEC won the final game by 4 wickets. The match which appeared an easy chase at a point turned into an exciting contest after the batting collapse. The winners were 103 at 10 overs and looked for an easy win but they tumbled as they chased down the target of 135 runs at 16.2 overs.
The game which was played today i.e. reserve day after the stadium was waterlogged got off to a fantastic start. Pretoria Capitals were completely overshadowed by the winners as they could muster just 135 runs in the first innings.
Rossington stars with a valiant half-century
Taking the charge for Sunrisers Eastern Cape in the innings, Rossington smashed match-winning 57 off 30 balls. He smashed 4 fours and five sixes in his valiant knock. Apart from him, Jordan scored 22 runs off 17 balls. Temba was dismissed for just two runs, giving the early blow and Rossington constructed the innings from there. Skipper Aiden Markram scored 26 off 19 balls with 2 fours and one six.
However, at one moment it appeared that PC is closing on after Jordan Cox was dismissed and half the team was back to pavilion with his wicket but Marco Jensen played a cameo in the end, ensuring a victory.

Van der Merwe took four wickets
Earlier, the Pretoria Capitals were dismissed for a mere 135 runs, with Roelof van der Merwe collecting 4 wickets. Aiden Markram won the coin toss, and the Sunrisers Eastern Cape decided to take the field first. The Capitals team were dismissed for 135 runs in 19.3 overs, with Kusal Mendis leading the charge with a top score of 21 runs. Additionally, Riley Russo and James Neesham contributed 19 runs each to the total.
