Sanju Samson: Wicketkeeper batsman Sanju Samson has been blasted by die-hard fans of Chennai Super Kings after he looked all lost with no hunger to score runs in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL). Samson, who demonstrated exemplary batting skills in the recently concluded International Cricket Committee (ICC) T20 World Cup 2026, has failed in the first three matches of the IPL 2026.
Interestingly, Sanju Samson was player of the tournament in the ICC T20 World Cup 2026 and scored a brilliant 89 runs off just 46 balls in the final match against New Zealand. His inning included 8 towering sixes and 5 fours; his batting strike rate was 193.48 runs.
Sanju Samson Under The Hammer?
Samson was signed by CSK from the Rajasthan Royals in a trade move. His performances in this year’s IPL have become a pain for enthusiastic fans of CSK who had expected the wicketkeeper batsman to replace the majestic Mahendra Singh Dhoni by taking bowlers to cleaners in the IPL 2026.
Till now, Samson has scored miserable scores of 6, 7 and 9 runs in the IPL 2026. This has left the CSK management worried and the fans frustrated over the team’s remaining season.
Fans Express Anger
Many fans believe that the recent drop in Samson’s performances is more because of a lack of disconnect and hunger at Chennai Super Kings. Fans remarked that the body language of Samson is screaming disinterested. Many claimed that he looks frustrated and disconnected every time the camera is on him.
In the recent match against RCB, CSK struggled after the team’s openers including Samson failed to deliver. RCB piled up a massive 250 runs for the loss of 3 wickets, thanks to a partnership of 99 runs between Rajat Patidar and Tim David and noteworthy contributions from Virat Kohli and Phil Salt. In response, CSK’s top order collapsed to 30 runs and only Jamie Overton, Prashant Veer and Sarfaraz Khan offered any hope. CSK lost the match after being bowled out for 207 runs.
