Bhojpuri actress and social media influencer Sapna Gill, who was arrested in the cricketer Prithvi Shaw selfie controversy, has now been sent to jail. The court has sent the accused to judicial custody for 14 days. Earlier, Sapna Gill was sent to police custody till 20 February. Apart from Sapna, three of her associates have also been sent to jail. All of them are accused of threatening cricketer Shaw and vandalizing his car.
Accused in judicial custody for 14 days
In the petition filed in the court, the Mumbai Police had said that there is a need to increase the police remand of the accused. For which the Mumbai Police had argued that the baseball bat and car used in the assault were yet to be found. For which there is a need to interrogate the accused. According to the news of ANI, the court has sent the accused to judicial custody for 14 days, rejecting this plea of the police.
There was a dispute over taking a selfie
On February 15, Indian cricketer Prithvi Shaw had gone to dinner with some friends at a hotel in Santacruz, Mumbai. Where Sapna Gill was also partying with her friends. On seeing Prithvi Shaw, Sapna reached to take selfie with him and got photographed with him. However, even after that some of Sapna’s friends kept making videos of Prithvi Shaw. When the cricketer objected, the controversy escalated. When Shaw refused to take the photo, a scuffle started between the two. After which Shaw left with his car but Sapna and her friends followed him and created ruckus on the road. Whose video became quite viral on social media. In the video, Sapna Gill was seen misbehaving with Prithvi.
