Adenovirus cases spike in West Bengal, here’s all you need to know

After Covid (Coronavirus), now the country is facing the danger of a disease named Adenovirus. The disease has become uncontrollable in West Bengal. So far 11 children have died. Its symptoms are like common fever.

According to experts, children below the age of 2 are at a higher risk. That is, their parents need to be more vigilant about these children.

The new serotype is very deadly

Infectious disease specialist Dr. Sayan Chakraborty in Kolkata said that adenovirus infects children. Its new serotype is very deadly. Its common symptoms are high fever, runny nose, redness of the eyes and rashes on the body.

He told that it is also called chest infection. Most of the school children are coming under its influence. If children apply surgical masks, its spread can be stopped. Like Covid, it also has a swap test, but it is very expensive.

Bengal Health Department gave these instructions

There is currently no specific treatment for adenovirus. Paracetamol can be taken in case of high fever. During this, one should drink more water. At present, the Health Department of Bengal has issued these instructions.

If children have fever for three to five days, immediately bring them to the hospital.

It is necessary to see a doctor if there is shortness of breath.

Do not send sick children to school. Avoid going to crowded places.

Wear a mask and if the oxygen level is less than 92 percent, get admitted to the hospital immediately.
