Sri Lanka’s innings came to a swift end at just 50 runs in 15.2 overs, largely attributed to Siraj‘s exceptional performance, wherein he secured six wickets in seven overs. India clinched their historic eighth Asia Cup title in a little over two hours. Following Sri Lanka’s batting collapse, the opening partnership of Shubman Gill and Ishan Kishan ensured that India gets an easy win.

The Asia Cup victory received widespread praise from cricketing legends and fans across the globe. Renowned cricketer Sachin Tendulkar joined the cricketing community in extending their congratulations to the Indian team, acknowledging their remarkable accomplishment of clinching their eighth Asia Cup title on a memorable Sunday.

In the 50-over format of the Asia Cup, Mohammed Siraj became the second bowler to secure a 6-wicket haul, with the first being Sri Lanka’s Ajantha Mendis, who achieved this feat by taking 6/13 against India in 2008. During the Asia Cup 2023 final at the R Premadasa Stadium, Indian speedster Siraj delivered an exceptional spell that dismantled Sri Lanka’s batting lineup, wrapping up their first innings in a mere 15.2 overs.
