Sundar Pichai, CEO of Alphabet and Google, stated that the tense FIFA World Cup final on Sunday night generated the most traffic Google Search has ever seen in the 25 years since it was launched.

Taking to Twitter, Sundar Pichai wrote, “Search recorded its highest ever traffic in 25 years during the final of #FIFAWorldCup , it was like the entire world was searching about one thing.” Sundar Pichai’s this piece of information has made a lot of buzz since it was tweeted first. Many commented on football being the number one sport globally while others praised Google for providing timely updates and good coverage.
