His performances for Rajasthan Royals setups and age-group cricket have demonstrated a rare maturity. Most teenage batters rely heavily on instinctive strokeplay. Sooryavanshi, however, seems to understand tempo. He knows when to attack, when to absorb pressure and when to shift gears.

More importantly, Bharucha referenced Sachin Tendulkar’s debut in 1989 against Pakistan. Sachin was only 16 when he faced the likes of Wasim Akram and Waqar Younis and the gamble changed Indian cricket forever.
