Virat Kohli will come back strong: Wasim Akram

The match against Pakistan in the Asia Cup on August 28 will be the 100th T20 International match of former captain Virat Kohli. This is India’s first match against arch-rivals after losing to Pakistan in the T20 World Cup last year. Former Pakistan captain Wasim Akram has given a big statement defending Virat Kohli.

Former Pakistan captain Wasim Akram said, “The way Kohli is being criticized on social media for the last one year, it is absolutely unnecessary. He is one of the best cricketers of all time. Form is temporary and ‘class’ is always there.”

This statement won the hearts of Indian fans

Terming comparison of Pakistan captain Babar Azam with Kohli as hasty, Akram said, “This comparison is natural and has happened in every round. Inzamam-ul-Haq has been compared with Sachin Tendulkar, Gundappa Vishwanath with Zaheer Abbas and Javed Miandad with Sunil Gavaskar.”

Wasim Akram said, “Babar has good technique and is learning fast. He is on the way to become great like Kohli but it is too early to compare him.”

Former India coach Ravi Shastri also defended Virat Kohli, saying that he still has no match in terms of fitness, hunger to win and passion and he will make a great comeback after this much-needed break.

Shastri said, ‘I haven’t spoken to Kohli recently, but the big players always get alert on time. The break taken before the Asia Cup will be beneficial for him in which he will introspect. People’s memory is very short and even if he scores a half-century against Pakistan, people will forget everything.”

Shastri said, ”I recently saw a statistic that in the last three years, Kohli has played three times more matches than his contemporaries Kane Williamson, David Warner or Joe Root. He was playing continuously in all three formats which would have had an impact. Despite this, there is no other Indian cricketer as fit as him. He is a machine and the hunger and passion for victory remains the same. Every great player goes through bad times and learns from them. He just needs a big innings.”
