Women’s T20 World Cup: Breaking ! Vice-captain Smriti Mandhana likely to miss first match against Pakistan due to THIS reason

Women’s T20 World Cup: The Indian Women’s cricket team has suffered a setback with the news that vice-captain Smriti Mandhana may miss the first match against Pakistan due to an injury sustained during a warm-up game against Australia.

Extend of Smriti Mandhana’s injury unknown

According to reports, the star batter hurt her left middle finger while playing in the field and only managed to face three deliveries at bat. As a result, she also missed the second warm-up game against Bangladesh. An ICC source confirmed the injury but did not specify its extent.

Additionally, Indian captain Harmanpreet Kaur is also a doubt for the opening game after hurting her shoulder in the Tri-Series final against South Africa. She did not participate in either of the warm-up games, but has reassured fans that she will recover with rest.

The Indian Women’s team is in Group B and begins its World Cup journey on February 12 against long-time rivals Pakistan. Their schedule continues with matches against West Indies on February 15, England on February 18, and Ireland on February 20.

The full squad for the Women’s T20 Cup includes Harmanpreet Kaur (c), Smriti Mandhana, Shafali Verma, Yastika Bhatia, Richa Ghosh, Jemimah Rodrigues, Harleen Deol, Deepti Sharma, Devika Vaidya, Radha Yadav, Renuka Thakur, Anjali Sarvani, Pooja Vastrakar, Rajeshwari Gayakwad, and Shikha Pandey. The reserves are Sabbhineni Meghana, Sneh Rana, and Meghna Singh.
