World Athletics Championships 2023: Creating history, Indian Men's 4x400 Relay Team reached the finale for the first time. However, unfortunately, in the final of the World Athletics Championships 2023 on Sunday, August 27, India's 4×400 Relay Team failed to win the medal & secured the fifth position. The gold medal was clinched by the USA, followed by France with the silver medal and Great Britain with the bronze. During the semifinal heats, the Indian relay team had impressively set an Asian record time. However, in the final race, they finished in fifth place with a time of 2:59.92 seconds.
India clinches fifth position
The United States showcased their strong performance once again and secured the first position with a remarkable time of 2:57:31. The French team achieved a new national record by completing the race in 2:58:45 seconds. Great Britain secured the bronze medal with a time of 2:58:71 seconds, which was their best time of the season. The credit goes to the men's relay team consisting of Muhammed Anas, Amoj Jacob, Muhammed Ajmal Variyathodi, and Rajesh Ramesh. They put up an impressive performance and finished very close behind the prominent contenders of the championship.
India's first ever final
Creating history, the Indian men's team achieved a significant milestone by qualifying for the final of the World Athletics Championships 4×400 relay for the very first time. The team, consisting of Muhammed Anas, Amoj Jacob, Muhammed Ajmal Variyathodi, and Rajesh Ramesh, secured an Asian record time of 2 minutes and 59.05 seconds during the semifinal, landing them in the second position, with only the USA finishing ahead.
Their outstanding performance during the semifinal propelled the Indian 4×400 relay team into the final event, putting them in the company of renowned teams like the US, Great Britain, Italy, Jamaica, and more. Thanks to their gold medal victory in the men's 4×400 relay, the USA secured the leading position in the final tally of the World Championships 2023 as the event concluded on Sunday.

At the conclusion of Day 9, the USA claimed the top spot with a total of 29 medals, out of which 12 were golds. Canada followed in second place with 6 medals, of which 4 were gold. Spain took the third position with a total of 5 medals, including 4 golds.
